The Jewish sage Rabbi Hillel said, “If I am not for myself, who am I? If I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?”
While everyone is welcome to take part at Brith Sholem, our members play a special role in sustaining our synagogue for ourselves and others, both those around us today and those who will be here in years to come. We thrive when everyone takes responsibility for the congregation’s well-being by giving in whatever ways they can. Individuals and households with at least one Jewish member can ensure our present and our future by making the commitment of membership.
Benefits
The most important benefit of synagogue membership is the knowledge that you are a significant part of something bigger than yourself. Tangible membership benefits include preferred access to congregational events (including discounted at events that have an associated cost), free Bar & Bat Mitzvah classes for children in the household, and a voice in congregational meetings and decisions. Members may reserve the 2760 Grant Ave. house and back yard for private functions at a discounted rate. Members are also entitled to free cemetery plots in the Jewish cemetery at Leavitt’s Aultorest in Ogden (one plot for individual members, two plots for households).
Membership Types & Dues
Membership Dues | Building Fund* | Yearly Total | ||
Individual | $470 | $50 | = | $520 |
Household | $800 | $100 | = | $900 |
At Brith Sholem, finances should never stand in the way of belonging. If the dues are beyond your current means, please get in touch with us and we will make alternate arrangements.
*The building fund commitment is applied during the first five years of membership only. Membership, and the associated financial commitment, is for the full year and is automatically extended from year to year unless the member notifies the Treasurer of intent to resign prior to the beginning of the next fiscal year.
The fiscal year for Congregation Brith Sholem is September 1-August 31. Dues may be paid at any time during that period. Payment over time (on a monthly basis, for example) is welcome. Dues for first-year members are pro-rated based on the fiscal year.
